**Course Syllabus: Diploma in Fire Engineering and Industrial Safety Management (DFEISM)**
**Semester 1: Fundamentals of Safety & Fire Engineering**
* **Module 1: Principles of Industrial Safety:** Introduction to occupational health and safety, hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety management systems.
* **Module 2: Fire Science and Technology:** Chemistry of fire, classification of fires, fire behavior, combustion process, and fire-fighting agents.
* **Module 3: Fire Protection Systems:** Portable fire extinguishers, fixed firefighting installations, sprinkler systems, alarms, and detection systems.
* **Module 4: Industrial Legislation & Safety Acts:** Overview of factory acts, labor laws, and safety regulations related to industrial operations.
**Semester 2: Advanced Safety Management & Practical Operations**
* **Module 5: Construction & Electrical Safety:** Hazards in construction sites, scaffolding safety, electrical safety, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and working at heights.
* **Module 6: Industrial Hazards & Chemical Safety:** Handling toxic chemicals, material safety data sheets (MSDS), ventilation systems, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
* **Module 7: Emergency Response & Disaster Management:** First aid, CPR, emergency evacuation plans, disaster management, and mock drill execution.
* **Module 8: Practical Training & Project Work:** On-site safety inspection, fire-fighting equipment handling practicals, and final project report.
Who can apply for this course
* **Academic Qualification:** Candidates must have passed the 10+2 (Intermediate) examination from any recognized State Board or Central Board (like CBSE, ICSE, etc.) in any stream (Science preferred).
* **Minimum Marks:** An aggregate of at least 45% marks in the qualifying examination is required.
* **Alternative:** Candidates who have completed a 10th-grade (Matriculation) exam followed by a 2-year ITI course from a recognized institute are also eligible to apply for lateral entry or the regular program, subject to board guidelines.
* **Medical Fitness:** All candidates must be physically and medically fit to perform duties related to fire safety and industrial operations.
